VI Day

04.09.2003

I won't apologize for my excitement. Don't call me a warmonger. I never wore a yellow ribbon or a flag pin.

The left called for solidarity w/ the Iraqi people. OK. They're cheering in Baghdad! I wrote about Basra, Nasiriyah, others. Celebrating in Dearborn (and other Iraqi-American communities). Cheering and dancing in the streets all day. So, in solidarity w/ the long-suffered Iraqi people: Victory! Victory! Victory!

Very interesting post. I think more poeple should see that the Iraqi people in the US support the cause. They have a better understang of what has really been happening in Iraq.

Although I had inital concerns about this war (which are not entirely resolved) I am pleased to see that it has so quickly become a positve advance. I am happy for the people of Iraq and anxious to see what they do with their country in the years to come.

Supporters of democracy and self determination should speak up - my complements

I tend to fight the battle in submissions to website threads sponsored by centre-left newspapers
Early in this campaign, newspolls were indicating that less than 10% of Australians supported Australia's involvement in the Iraq war without UN backing - I was one of the 10%

Thankfully support has since turned around - amazing how the sight of cheering Iraqi's changes perceptions

In coming months as the courts try Snr Saddam operatives for human rights abuses, we are going to get a constant newsflow of gruesome actions. The French and the Russians, having protected this regime, won't look good.
