Also, reports of Iraq as a Vietnamesque quagmire are premature. Of course, it might turn into another Vietnam. But that's not yet certain. For perspective, keep in mind that SS guerrilla units fought (and killed) Allied troops in post-war Germany as late as 1947.

My favorite joke is actually a serious quote from someone in the administration (where do they find these people sometimes?) who responded to a question of "Is Iraq going to become another Vietnam?" His response was: "Of course not. They don't even speak the same language."

Suggestions for the caption of this cartoon
"Peter, As you can see behind me Baghdad has been liberated in the same fashion as the city of Dresden in WWII. Not only have the Iraqis been liberated from the evil dictator Saddam Hussein, many have been liberated from their homes, from electric appliances, and even from their jobs. In a sign of appreciation for this liberation, many Iraqis continue to celebrate by joyfulling firing Rocket Propelled Grenades towards their liberators."
Or:
"Peter, behind me you can see the devastation left by al-Quada'a latest attack on America. Intelligence sources say that while America was distracted with occupying Iraq, al-Quada operatives were able to reconstitute their forces and launch this attack."

I couldn't resist another caption:
"Peter, here is yet more evidence of America's new doctrine of pre-emptive war. Early yesterday morning, President Bush gave the order to invade the Tokyo restaurants responsible for the public vomiting of his father, the first President Bush. Calling the restaurant and its two chains "an axis of culinary evil", the President stated this strike struck a blow for weak stomachs everywhere. President Bush plans to replace the current chef with a Japanese-American who has a background in Texan cooking."
