Top Ten in order of greatness:
The Honeymooners
I Love Lucy
The Simpsons
Seinfeld
Frasier
All in the Family
Rhoda
The Bob Newhart Show (the original)
Absolutely Fabulous
The Dick Van Dyke Show
I wouldn't consider this a sitcom but more of a drama--The Wonder Years--but since you mentioned it, TWY and Freaks and Geeks are two of the best dramas ever made about growing up.

Wow, you tricked me a bit, lol. Northern Exposure is my favorite and I think best TV show ever, but definitely it's not a sitcom. But I am happy that somebody else liked it too. What do you think about this, that one of the best "sitcoms" ever was actually Baywatch. Even though we could discuss it because when I saw it I did not whether I was suppose to laugh or cry, lol lol lol.

Yes, the question of what is & isn't a "sitcom" is a good one. I think J. Scott's right that "Wonder Years" wasn't a sitcom, but a primetime drama. But I think "Northern Exposure" straddled the line. It wasn't a standard sitcom (laugh track, gags, etc). But it did fit the pattern of crazy characters who got into funny situations resolved in a single episode. It was more subdued humor, but I think of it as a sitcom. And, yes, also one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. Well, the last season was rather lame ... but the rest was pure genius.
And. No. "Baywatch" wasn't a sitcom. It was a tragedy.

Northern Exposure and now Wonderfalls is sth that's called dramedy, a comedy drama. But yeah, I agree w/ you on Baywatch. But still it was the most watched TV show around the world ever. Go figure, lol.

1. Seinfeld (consistently funny throughout, except for the finale)
2. The Simpsons (has hit some rough spots, best years had Conan O'Brien onboard)
3. Arrested Development (There's something about sitcoms without laughtracks, this is the 2nd year and hopefully it will stick around for a long time)
4. Three's Company (Larry Dallis - the most underrated sitcom actor ever)
5. Cheers (Again, too much tinkering with cast)
6. Newsradio (Phil Hartman-genius, Jon Lovitz-annoying)
7. The Family Guy (Another show that got lost in the shuffle, it has been resurrected on the Cartoon Network and on DVD. Will resume in 2005)
8. The Cosby Show (Early years were brilliant, when they brought in new characters it lost a lot of its charm)
9. Happy Days (Where did Chuck go?)
10. Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO-only, so I don't get to see it very often. Just like Seinfeld, except with swearing).
20,650. Friends (Aren't sitcoms supposed to make you laugh?)
