University burro-cracy

09.22.2004

Why does it take 52 hours for a FedEx to deliver a package from Pennsylvania to Friedmann Hall's receiving dock, but 24 hours for the building's shipping/receiving to take things up two flights of stairs? Let's hope I can pick up my package before class tomorrow morning.

And why does the WiFi in my office flicker on/off so consistently? It's extremely frustrating.

At least the university developed a totally unnecessarily cluttered personalized web portal. Too bad it looks like Excite in '97. Oh, wait, it still looks like that, too.

Miguel,

The title to this post is definitly one of the best I've seen. Brilliant.

I got it from an old Cantinflas movie ("El ministro y yo"), where he explains the meaning of the word burrocracia (rule by asses).

I think the web portal looks fine. Simple and neat, although the designer could have chosen a better looking "yellow".

Oh, the portal is functional. But copy-cating Excite's look & feel in 2004 seems rather anacronistic. I mean, who still uses Excite for anything?
