I just found this amazing website. You type in a band's name, and it makes a graphical map of similar bands you might like. The interface isn't as user-friendly as I'd like, but it's a cool way to find new bands (it works really well w/ indie groups) that sound like bands you like. Go, check it out.

In 1.5 hours, a group excursions to see Team America: World Police. How excited am I? Pretty freakin' excited. OK. I should finish dinner, run to The Rocket Star, join the caravan.

UPDATE: I enjoyed, and laughed, through most of Team America. But. If you're easily offended, or take things too seriously, you should NOT see this movie. It's probably 10x more offensive than South Park. But while parts of it are clearly shocking for the sake of shocking, sophomoric humor, it does have some really smart/witty parts that are well worth it. Bottom line: It's both good political satire AND it's extremely offensive. Keep both things (and something called the First Amendment) in mind as you watch it.

So, how was the movie? All I heard about it was that it sucked big time. N.

I watched Team America this afternoon, too. Portions were funny, others were just surprising. Liked the crude humor.

Yes, the movie was absolutely crude. Even over the top crude. Deliberately shocking, in almost any way imaginable. That said, it was not only entertaining, it had moments of sheer satirical brilliance (in true South Park fashion). Man, Trey Parker & Matt Stone hate the Hollywood gliteraty w/ an amazing passion. Wow.

>> And I so respect them for it!

Musicplasma: It seems like they recycle the same bands over and over again. They keep suggesting New Pornographers, Iron and Wine, Death Cab for Cutie and Fountains of Wayne for every band I type in.

Yeah, I wondered about that myself. And it's too clunky for my tastes. I was just eating dinner, watching TechTV's The Screen Savers & they plugged it.
