Stewart v. Crossfire
10.18.2004OMG. You've got to read this transcript of Jon Stewart taking on the Crossfire jerks on CNN (also a Windows Media file). If you've RealPlayer, you can see clip at iFilm. I tried to find a best quote or something. But I can't. His indictment of the partisan hackery that passes for "debate" in MSM (main stream media) is just too brutal, and too true.

Thank you, I so wanted to see this. That Carlson guy ... he needs a good shag to calm down.

I agree with him, nevertheless I think it was rude of him to talk to them in such a tone in their own show. But it's true, it's amazing how CNN has lost it. After 9/11 I rarely even look at it, although do like a cynical tone of Anderson Cooper a bit. N.

Thanks for the link, it was less brutal as the transcript would lead you to believe. Iīm pretty sure Tucker Carlsonīs behavior is played up a lot for television, although he is pretty smug and arrogant. I went to a taping of Crossfire earlier this year and it was as if he flipped a switch once the cameras went on.

"I went to a taping of Crossfire earlier this year and it was as if he flipped a switch once the cameras went on."
Like Jon Stewart said, "It's all just theater."

I caught that clip yesterday. Loved it. Seriously.
It may have been rude, but how better to get your message across than directly in a public forum?
John Stewart has my respect.

Duane showed me the clip last week. I had read about it on some other blogs. I found it hilarious how he pretty much took over the show and did not have them their way with him. And the quote I posted last week from this interview is still my fave quote: I did not realize that the newsnetworks look at Comedy Central for their cues on integrity.

What a show. I think it's funny in this respect that the Daily Show "Global Edition" runs on CNN International.
So in a way Stewart is not only at Comedy Central but also part of CNN.
