Fakesgiving weekend

11.20.2004

Tonight was the annual Beta/Gamma Fakesgiving dinner. Sam was back in town from Albion, and we met the others at Ellsworth Hall. It was a good time, as always. I enjoy hearing about all the different careers of these fine alumni.

Last two days have been rather busy, still recovering from catching up w/ work after my mid-week trip to Chicago to see The Pixies. Friday involved a shift at The Rocket Star, followed by the monthly pool tourney. Bret & I were knocked out, despite winning our first match magnificently. But we lost to the tourney winner, which must count for something, eh?

Between slinging coffee & the pool tourney, I saw National Treasure w/ Dan. And. Forced to admit that it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be. Actually. It's pretty good. While it's no Ocean's Eleven, it's about as good as The Italian Job. Basically, a fun caper movie w/ loads of American history/mythology to boot. I'd literally only gone for the twisted pleasure of walking out of the theater saying "told you so" — oh, how wrong I was. The trick? It's not a movie about Masonic conspiracy theories; it's a caper story w/ Masonic clues as plot device.

Treated myself to a day of sleeping in past noon, then puttered around the apartment, watched TNT. The Other Sister, one of my favorite sappy movies (if you haven't seen it, you should).

I'm also trying to spend more time at home, keeping my cats a little happier than they've been lately. Annie, especially, needs a lot of lap-sitting time. And Sophie needs lots of chasing-feathers-on-a-string time.

Oh, and here's some great video of the world's cutest niece.

Bro,

It was good seeing you at the dinner. Sorry I disappeared, I had promised my cousin that i was going to hang out with him also. Some Betas and Gammas went to Toritlla Flats and some went to Wayside afterwards.
