iPod enters my iLife

The pre-meeting brown bag colloquia I attended was interesting. An insightful presentation by a geographer on the effect on Mexico's banking structure on individual people's savings in the Yucatan. Lots of data. And, of course, there's always an anthro person who's (let's just say) an "entertaining" audience member. I'm excited to see what the anthros'll think of my presentation, sometime in April (or March?).

Dissertation committee meeting went well. Some good feedback from everyone. Which included the advice to stop working on Chapter 1 (OK, I am getting sick of it anyhow), to start working on one of the "empirical" chapters (I chose Chapter 5). So the next 2-3 weeks I'll be writing about the 1989-1993 (MIR-ADN) & 1993-1997 (MNR+) governments.

On the way home, I finally bit the bullet. And bought a 40GB iPod (at the university bookstore, of all places). The little guy's loading up on about 4,000 songs right now. And speaking of music: Hurray for ourTunes!

Tonight I work my first ever 6-to-midnight shift at Rocket Star (I switched w/ Dan). Should be interesting. Come keep me company. I'll play some good tunes for you.

Funniest thing today? A dazed student wondering into my office looking for an art gallery. Followed by me trying to explain that this was the political science department, and her being increasingly confused.
