Finally free (sort of)

03.23.2005

W/ the MPSA paper finished, and the semester coming to an end, I'm finally starting to have more "free time" again. Apologies to all the friends I've slighted the past month or two.

All I've left is to grade a 345 final, a short 1-2 page 105 paper, and a 105 quiz. April 6-10 I go to Chicago for a conference & some birthday fun. And that's about it. Oh, I also go on a Rocket Star sabbatical the end of this month. So. After this hard-scrabble semester, managing two classes & 107 students, I'll have a much more relaxed time of things. Ironically, I also expect to get more done (dissertation-wise).

Plans? Hauling the mopeds out for spring. Going out dancing on Tuesdays. More time to read books & catch up on journals. Also, the new apartment search (please, please, Parkmont).

Oh, and I think I'm going to clean the office I share, try to keep it organized (as easy as that is w/ other people), and once the semester's over, start moving books to it to work in on a more regular basis. Unless, of course, I score a nice two bedroom & turn the second into an office.

So that's what I'm up to lately. And now that I'm more or less free, I hope to be out & about doing fun stuff on a more regular basis. Pool, poker, LAN gaming, bike/moped rides, etc.

Finally, when did my cats decide they want to run out of my apartment & into the lobby?

Miguel, could you recommend any good resources for rebuilding moped motors? I'd like to give Cletus a good going-through before hitting Detroit's buckled pavement.

You've never let your cats out of the apartment all this time?

Do cats go out at all?

American house cats hardly ever, ever, go out at all. Mine never have, and never wanted to. Also, for the record, my cats have no claws. So going outside would be a bad idea for them.

Over here in Germany people open their eyes wider than the St. Luis' Arch, when I tell them US cats don't go outside. Well, most people, should I say.
