Barrio Flores has an amazing report on first-hand accounts of Bolivian protests based on excerpts from reports by people inside, participating in them. If you think these protests are "pacific" or "romantic", think again.

Also, Mesa's approval ratings are at an all time low. Yet he still has supermajority approval in La Paz & El Alto, the areas that are most violently protesting for his resignation. His highest disapproval rating is in Santa Cruz, where things are peaceful & relatively quiet (grumblings, sure, but no mass, violent protests).

Update on the officers who called for Mesa's resignation: Lt. Cols. Galindo & Herrera were drummed out of the army on Thursday. The military once again reiterated its commitment to constitutional, democratic, and civilian rule.
