Radio guest

Technorati tag:

I'm scheduled to be on as a guest on Open Source, a public radio show w/ Christopher Lydon, talking about the recent Bolivian elections tonight at 7pm EST. You can listen on these public radio stations or the KUOW live stream. Not sure if there'll be a podcast. The other guests are Jeffrey Sachs & Jim Schultz.

You can also visit the show's blog post, where you can comment on the topic: "Latin America's New Socialism" (the show hasn't aired yet & there's already several comments).

Sorry about posting this so late. I just found out about this today before noon, as I was on my way to drive to Chicago & back, dashing to make it back in time for the on-air interview. I made it w/ 30 minutes to spare. Whew.

----
UPDATE 1: I just got off the hour-long show, which (I didn't realize at first) will be on PRI (Public Radio International). I was nervous, didn't get to put my two cents in as much as I'd hoped (but perhaps more often than I should've), but it was a great experience. And I got to hear Jeffrey Sachs say on at least one occassion "I agree w/ Miguel ..." See. Dreams do come true.

UPDATE 2: There is, indeed, an mp3 cast you can listen to (or download).

Miguel,

Nice job in the broadcast. Sachs did a nice job but many of the idiosyncrasies especially in Santa Cruz (Ruben Costas as prefect). Jim Schultz also brought an interesting perpective. I still think that it really depends on how the Colla and Camba discourse play out as many interest groups attempt to control these resources. Will there be a negotiation and will the syndicates be satisfied with these results? What will happen if land invasion accelerates? I hope that Evo turns out to be more of a pragmatist than a populist.

Nice job, Miguel. I was half-listening to the show until I heard Lydon mention your name. I was more than little surprised (i hadn't checked your blog yet).
And yes, it must have been pretty amazing to hear Sachs say near the end of the program that he agreed with your point about the domestic politics in Bolivia.
Huge kudos to you!!!

Great! Hopefully the Deans of small liberal arts colleges responsible for hiring listened in ...

So cool, Miguel!

Still, you know, this doesn't surprise me at all. I'm not making this up: as I was driving to work this morning and listening to another report on NPR about Bolivia, I thought to myself, "I wonder if they would ever talk to Miguel about Bolivia. They should."

Still -- it's very cool. Brett and I are listening right now...awesome job!
