¿A donde vas, doctor?

From La Razón: How bad are things in Cuba? Seems that at least 30 of the socialist paradise's doctors — sent on a medical mission — have defected. In Bolivia. That's pretty bad.

The doctors were part of a medical mission sent to Bolivia. While many laud Cuba's egalitarian health care system, it's important to note that several doctors & other healthcare workers have complained of the country's lack of basic resources (like sterile gloves).

There have also been protests in Bolivia (see BBC article) — as in other Latin American countries — that Cuban doctors are taking jobs away from local doctors. Some also argue that the Cuban doctors are sometimes not fully qualified doctors.

Now that's a funny story, I'll bet Chavez and Castro aren't proclaiming this story to the hilltops.

But just in case they try, here's a possible spin by the Castro regime--
"Yes, comrades, we provide free healthcare to all our brothers and sisters...so good in fact that we can't convince our doctors to come home, they choose to stay with their new patients. Viva la revolution!!"
