Social Security

I thought this was a good article to use your 7 steps.

Since we've not yet discussed how data can/can't be used, I should just point out that figures are often interpreted differently, depending on various factors. It's often interesting to see different arguments on one topic using similar data.

So here are articles on Social Security from The Nation (left-leaning), Reason (centrist), and The National Review (right-leaning).

Notice some very deep arguments over how to interpret SSA data, what it means, and what implications it has for domestic economic policy.

There has been no proposed legislation from the Bush Administration on Social Security yet. So there really are no facts about Bush's policy because he has not officialy put any into Congress yet. After tonight's State of the Union, though, perhaps we will all know what his exact proposal will be if he spells it out.
